Why not check storage for helmet space. That is like important thing. If you go to shops, you dont wana be carrying helmet around.

Absolutely agree on the rev counter. I bought this as a learner bike and watched a lot of UA-cam learner guides saying “hold revs at 3000” etc etc. I bought a cheap tachometer on Amazon (<£10) which wraps around the spark lead. Really helped me.

Great review as always mate. Bought my CB125R at Dobles. Done 7k now. Taken it camping to Wales, Scotland, Cornwall with full camping gear. This is gonna be my first 'big bike'. Just waiting for the right one now.

Never second looked these till I took my AT in for a service and got one as a courtesy bike, absolutely loved it and blasted it all over the Trough of Bowland. It never skipped a beat.

Most forks will get rusted if not properly taking care off, what I do is so put a light coat of Shock oil on the forks, just rub some on your hands and then rub the shiny portion with your hands and let it there( yeah sounds dirty😅) but it works. I do this on my Honda PCX125 and other cheap 125's and same as you I just ride them on all type of weather and they rarely take a wash, so far after 30k plus of km never had any issu with Rust.

Honda has come out with their sport variant Africa twin with the 19 inch front wheel. A little less of a beast. Was that an option for you before you bought the 500? Cruise control is kind of a big deal if you’re touring.

Good balanced review on a bike I am looking into swapping up from my NC750x. May I ask if you have done a long journey on it (100 miles +) and if so how did the seat hold up ? Was it comfortable. If you have not had a chance to do such a journey, then may I be so bold as to ask others here what their thoughts are if they have done a Long journey on theirs. Wishing you well and stay upright.

Still have my monkey for fun but took the new Triumph 400x out for test at the weekend, could be my new steed, perfect power for my needs and longer rides, cannot be bothered with fast bikes i ache too much to enjoy them.

Right now I'm weighing between this and the Triumph 400x Scrambler.

Really can't understand why people get hung up on the tubeless Tyre thing I've been riding 37 years and never once have I had any issues regarding a tube bike over a tubeless bike. To be fair I'd rather a tube to a tubeless off rd. personal preference I guess most people who buy this bike will never use it as it was intended anyway.

Looking forward to your CL vs NX review. I have both a CL and CB500X and i actually feel the CL is more fun to ride - seems quicker - but that’s down to the setup or sprocket sizing i guess
